Chengdu Panda tour to the base is located just 10 km from Chengdu on an area of 247 hectares. How it starts the Panda base? Chengdu Panda Base was created on behalf of six hungry and sick pandas that were rescued by the wild in the eighties. Since then, up until today, the employees of Chengdu Panda Base have been caring for giant pandas. By 2017, the number of pandas reached 176 pandas. The whole park-house of pandas is a combination of rivers, lakes, bamboo forests, caves and is a natural ecological environment ideal for living for the Giant Pandas. While you are on a Chengdu tour, do not miss visiting this Base, there are two reasons for that: One is because of the fact that it is close to Chengdu, and the other is the habitat in combination with Giant Pandas which you will not see elsewhere.

Bifengxia Giant Panda Base

Bifengxia Giant Panda Base is located in Bifengxia Town, Ya’an about 2 hours of driving from Chengdu. The Base was opened in 2004 and since then has been home for several more pandas. After the 2008 earthquake, Bifengxia Base was only slightly damaged, so some of the ponds that lived in the Wolong National Nature Reserve were transferred here. Now the park is a great place where the pandas can grow and live. The base is divided into several zones: Baby giant Panda care zone, panda breeding zone, research zone, bamboo woods, and office area. By 2015, the volunteer program and taking photos of the Giant pandas had been stopped, and it is not yet known whether these activities will be again available to visitors.

Dujiangyan (Wolong) Panda Base

Dujiangyan Panda Base is the only Giant Panda Care, an institution for the prevention and control of diseases in the world. Dujiangyan Panda Base is located at Mount Qingcheng Town at about 56 km from Chengdu. This park offers a special program for tourists who want to volunteer in the park. During your Chengdu tour, you can register or book a volunteering term so you will have the opportunity to be close to the Giant pandas. Volunteering consists of cleaning the homes of pandas, preparing food, and feeding animals. The most convenient time to visit Dujiangyan Panda Base is in the summer so you can see the playful cubs.

You do not have to be a panda lover to visit these incredibly cute animals. No one remains indifferent to their playfulness and that dear look. If you have enough time on your Chengdu tour, visit at least two of the homes of Giant Pandas. What you will see there will be remembered as a fantastic journey that you will remember for a lifetime. Most of the day, pandas are sleeping or resting. So if you are organizing a Chengdu tour alone, make sure that to visit the Panda Base in the morning.
