Mountains covered with white sand dunes

It’s an unusual and unique feature to spot mountains covered with white sand dunes. Such is the fascination and alchemy of the Trans-Himalayan ranges near Leh, India. Usually, every mountain peak has its charisma and enthrallment, but the magic of spotting mountains covered with sand dunes is subtle and sporadic in any corner of the world. There are sand dunes, including the coastal dunes, but the white sand dunes are unique and not prevalent in other parts of the country.

How are sand dunes formed?

  1. When sediments combine.

When sediments combine, sand dunes form in packs and pyramids. These dunes are natural, and their presence even outstrips mountains covered with snow. The dunes are white on the land and gray on the hills. Any adventurous traveler should find this feature unique and unexampled among the other enticing panoramas plunging mountains.

  2. When winds start depositing sand grains.

When winds deposit sand grains in large quantities, dunes naturally form. This is a natural, slow process that takes time. The dunes occupy a significant part of the region and come from the Shyok River, which is located close to the area. White sand dunes are naturally formed in Hunder village, about 10 km from the Diskit monastery.

The Shyok River can be seen in the region.

The river Shyok flowing across the mountain ranges adds flavor to the magnetism. The trees are immaculate, and vegetation is scarce compared to other parts of the region. The whole scene creates a panoramic halo in the eyes of like-minded travelers who come to see the enigmatic divinity of the mighty Karakoram ranges. These mountains become grey, and the dunes give these rocky peaks a new look. Another remarkable feature of the region is the presence of Buddhist monasteries and stupas.

  1. I was curious if you ever thought of changing the page layout of your website? Its very well written; I love what youve got to say. But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect with it better. Youve got an awful lot of text for only having 1 or 2 pictures. Maybe you could space it out better?

  2. I’m so happy to read this. This is the kind of manual that needs to be given and not the accidental misinformation that is at the other blogs. Appreciate your sharing this greatest doc.
