Mountains covered with white dunes

Has anyone heard about mountains covered with naturally formed white dunes?

It’s an unusual and unique feature to spot mountains covered with white dunes. Such is the fascination and alchemy of the Trans-Himalayan ranges near Leh, India. Usually, every mountain peak has its charisma and enthrallment, but the magic of spotting mountains covered with dunes is subtle and sporadic in any corner of the world. There are sand dunes, including the coastal dunes, but the white dunes are unique and not prevalent in other parts of the country. We also found the famous dunes in California and the US.

How are dunes formed?

The natural formation of white dunes is in Hunder village, about 10 km from the Diskit monastery. These white dunes are formed in packs and pyramids, making the place unique and unprecedented compared to any region across the Trans Himalayan belt. The dunes occupy a significant part of the region, and the remaining portion is attributed to the villagers staying in their comfort in the homestays. They have their ways of planting and growing their food, such as flowers and vegetables, in the region, which makes the nation proud of its natural glory and luxury.

Green grasslands and meadows add flavor to the environment.

The river flowing across the mountain ranges adds flavor to the magnetism. The trees are immaculate, and vegetation is scarce compared to other parts of the region. The whole scene creates a panoramic halo in the eyes of like-minded travelers who come to see the enigmatic divinity of the mighty Karakoram ranges. These mountains become grey, and the dunes give a new look to these rocky peaks. Green grasslands and meadows can also be found beneath these high-rise mountain peaks, which add to the flavor and compound the area covered by white dunes.

Buddhist stupas and monasteries are some of the added flavors across the region.

The presence of Buddhist monasteries and stupas is another remarkable feature and a combination that determines the area in the vicinity. These white dunes are natural, and their presence even outstrips mountains covered with snow. The color of the dunes is white on the land and gray on the hills. Every compatible and adventurous traveler should find this feature unique and unexampled among the other enticing panoramas of plunging mountains. One can also trace some big rivers, like Shyok, enclosing a greater area and giving a different panoramic view of the surrounding environment. White dunes on the surface and in the land provide a different perspective on the location and the valley, compounding mountains and hilly arcades.

  1. I was curious if you ever thought of changing the page layout of your website? Its very well written; I love what youve got to say. But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect with it better. Youve got an awful lot of text for only having 1 or 2 pictures. Maybe you could space it out better?

  2. I’m so happy to read this. This is the kind of manual that needs to be given and not the accidental misinformation that is at the other blogs. Appreciate your sharing this greatest doc.
