The cryptic Daboling is a trivial name in the mountain dictionary due to its geographical position and latitude. The mountain peak is located at an altitude of around 6000 meters above sea level which only a few people know who goes hiking in the Kinnaur region. The mountain giant is located just left to Raldang, situated at an elevation of around 5500 m. All the mountain ranges are visible from Kalpa (a small town), Reckong Peo(the subdivisional capital of Kinnaur district) including Sarong, Jorkanden, Raldang, and Kinnaur Kailash to name a few. Although the other peaks are clearly visible, it is required to take a good camera to capture this mighty giant as it remains concealed under the clouds and invisible due to bad weather and other climatic hurdles.
The peak is situated adjacent to Raldang in Kinnaur Kailash massif
On hovering around the small town of Kinnaur, one can find these ranges coming closely in contact with each other and resembling some similarities in terms of height, shape, and sizes. All these peaks remain covered with snow throughout the year but travellers and hikers can access and witness them only during certain time frames mostly in the months of June-September. The road to Reckong Peo is one of the deadliest in the world and it requires great skills and expertise to drive across the region circumscribed by snow-clad peaks and impenetrable forests of the Northern Himalayas. The road taken is through Wangtoo-Karcham-Reckong Peo and ends at Kalpa which is one of the magical high summits in the Kinnaur district.
The cryptic Daboling peak looks like a concave structure lying underneath the clouds
Travellers coming to this part of the region can witness the hidden beauty of Nature and the Himalayas and plan a sojourn in the district and stay for a couple of days to experience and perceive everything very clearly and distinctly. Nature shows its real characteristics and features in places like Kinnaur which is rare in any corner of the world. The majesty and the hidden beauty of cryptic Daboling is one of the promising happenings across the region that come to awake the spiritual and mountain wanderlust in them.
