Did you know that Costa Rica gets over 1.7 million tourists a year? Most of them come from the US and Canada too, which means it shouldn’t be too far a trip to take for you!

If you’re looking for somewhere relatively close by for your next vacation spot, then Costa Rica is a must. But besides booking flights to Costa Rica, you’ve also got to figure out how you want to spend your time there.

Luckily, we’re here to help. In this article, we’ll show you 5 things to do in Costa Rica!

1. Go Hiking

There are over 20 national parks in Costa Rica. Considering that entrance fees are very cheap, it’s very possible to go to most or even all of them if you have enough time!

You’ll be able to conquer beautiful trails that’ll reward you with breathtaking views. You can do self-guided hikes, but if you want to learn more about the area and see more wildlife, going on a guided hike can be a good idea.

2. Go Surfing

Costa Rica is home to some of the best surf spots in the world! While there are plenty of areas to catch a wave or two, you might be wondering where to go if you’re a beginner.

In that case, head to Tamarindo. The waves here are very small and there are many surf schools to choose from.

If you’re wondering where to stay when in Tamarindo, consider renting a house if you’re going with many people and you’re staying for a while. It’ll offer you a glimpse into how locals live!

3. Have a Lazy Day on the Beach

If you’re not one for surfing, or even swimming and snorkeling, then have a lazy day on one or two of the sparkling Costa Rica beaches. Soak up the sun and treat yourself to a much-needed “me” day!

You should also take advantage of happy hour! The numerous restaurants and bars along the beaches offer generous discounts over large windows of time, which means you won’t have to chug your drinks to take full advantage of these great deals.

4. Go to the Feria

The feria is the local farmer’s market, which every town has (mostly on weekends). These allow you to get a taste of Costa Rica food. And you’ll get to do it for cheap too!

Stroll through the vendors and make sure to eat things like ceviche, tamales, Casado, and more!

This list only touches the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the things to do in Costa Rica. So use it as a starting point and if you find anything interesting while you’re there, don’t be afraid to be brave and do it!
